2.1b1 crash
installed the new beta at release, about an hour later it crashed, I restarted it and now it just crashed again, the crash behaviour is:
computer locks up, about 10 seconds later my mouse catches up with the movement made during the lock up, a windows crash dialog box opens up with the following contents: Quote:Files that help describe the problem: However the files listed do not exist, so... This is on Windows 7. |

RE: 2.1b1 crash
I think that's just Windows trying to be smart, the missing files. Please check if the installation went through properly - maybe even remove the entire previous installation before installing the new one. This is behaviour as described in 2.0.4.
Also check if you have a file called 'app.log' in your install dir - I'm especially interested in the last few file lines, or you can email the entire thing to me. |

RE: 2.1b1 crash
I experienced the exact same symptom on first use except I'm not sure if mine crashed after an hour or sooner. I also did not uninstall the previous version before installing the beta version.

I couldn't find that file so I uninstalled everything and then re-installed the beta, then it crashed again and I could find the listing files: WER1E7C.tmp.appcompat -- http://pastebin.com/B4b6a9r0 WERE810.tmp.WERInternalMetadata -- http://pastebin.com/DN9d6mBK Then after that crash I once again uninstalled everything and reverted to the live version of Whatpulse (download 36 on the downloads page) and now I have similar behaviour: Every ~10 - 15 minutes my PC will freeze up for ~10 seconds; Whatpulse won't crash though. I've isolated this to Whatpulse, shutting down Whatpulse stops the problem. Any way I can get a log for the non-beta version that can isolate this problem? |

RE: 2.1b1 crash
The beta version is also crashing on my laptop running Windows 8...
I've tried opening the log file, but it seems it is re-written when I relaunch whatpulse... Code: 19-03-2013 11:46:30.972 INFO Starting WhatPulse... It has now counted only a quarter of my initial keys. I have uninstalled the previous version and re-installed from scratch, but this doesn't help. I'll try to get the information from the log file when the application crashes. Quote:If a law is unjust, a man is not only right to disobey it, he is obligated to do so. ~ Thomas Jefferson. |

RE: 2.1b1 crash
I'm getting random crashes on Win7 about 1-2 times a day. I'll see if I can find app.log. I checked Event Viewer, and it's exception code 0xc0000005 again:
Code: Faulting application name: whatpulse.exe, version: 2.1.0.0, time stamp: 0x51449875 I've tried a complete uninstall, running as administrator, and giving user accounts full control permission for the WP install directory. The good news about 2.1b1: - After a crash, I can now start the program again without deleting the db - No problems yet on WinXP |

RE: 2.1b1 crash
Ok, I found that it only writes app.log if it's running as administrator. It crashed at 15:18:01, so the last log entry was 6 seconds before that:
Code: 23-03-2013 15:12:54.846 DEBUG Starting backup of database to: "C:/Users/Bloopy/AppData/Local/WhatPulse/whatpulse.db.backup" No sign of any errors in the log, but I get a couple of warnings whenever I open the main window: Code: 23-03-2013 02:03:19.058 WARN QLayout: Attempting to add QLayout "" to QWidget "", which already has a layout |

RE: 2.1b1 crash
You don't need to check any further, they have to do with the network monitor, which I most likely have fixed for the next release. If you disable network, it'll remain stable.
