You obviously don't have to believe me, but it'll be fixed in the next version in any case. ;-)

Just wanted to let you guys know what's happening..I fixed a lot of stuff so far and was actually ready to give you another build. My Windows 7 development machine is kinda dying (weird errors, building the client sometimes fails) and is due for a replacement. While I put a Windows 8.1 machine in place to replace Windows 7, it kinda came clear I had to upgrade to Qt5 from Qt4, the current Qt framework WhatPulse is built on.

I tried this once before and was not satisfied with the dependancies it needs. It needs 21 dll files of around 22MB total. I was unable to cut it down then, so reverted back to Qt4.

Now that I can't really get around it, especially as Qt4 has some unresolved nasty bugs that some people here are hitting, I want to do something about the dependancies.

To do that, 2 things need to be reworked; viewing update releasenotes (when there's a new version and you can read the things changed) and the facebook login. The first one has already been done, that was quite easy. The facebook login needs to change drastically, as the 'browser' inside the client needs to disappear.

Doing that, I can cut it down to about 5 dll files of 5MB.

I'm gonna go for a 'psuedo' password type thing, where you get a generated password from the website if you're using facebook login and you'll need to input that generated password to login to the client.

So that's going to take maybe a week or 1,5..after which I'll release it to you guys. Probably going to rename it to 2.5 as well, as things stand, it's not so much of a maintenance release anymore. ;-)

That'll be simple enough - just like entering an authentication code for a service.
Look forward to the next release.

Will the overall file size be larger than current release? Or will the 5 DLL files lead to a smaller overall program?

It'll be significant smaller. I think it'll end up around a total size of 5-7MB. Compared to the current 20-22MB, I'd call that smaller. ;-)

There seems to be an issue with the device recognition on OS X. On Yosemite it sees my retina MacBook Pro (mid 2014 edition) as a virtualized OS X and in Mavericks it sees it as a early 2013 retina MacBook Pro.

This beta also crashes on second start with my Windows 8.1 KVM virtualized machine, even after a full clean install (deleted db). I send the report for that several times.

Edit: happens on a non virtualized Windows 8.1 aswel.

There is an issue with per-application stat recording when an application with multiple versions is opened on the same computer, on the same day.

Let's say I open Excel 2013, close it, and open Excel 2010. All further activity in Excel 2010 will not contribute towards the "Microsoft Excel" application in the applications list until the next day, when the "today" table of the applications is cleared. Activity in Excel 2013 does still contribute towards the application entry though.

It could arise due to the different locations of both the applications or the fact that they are different versions with the same name, depending on how Whatpulse records the data.

I tried this with Word as well and the same thing happened, and i'm sure it happened with League of Legends the other day when an update was issued, as the stats for the day seemed to be lower than expected.
